Economical activity

Yamachiche is a municipality in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is at about 60 miles east of Montréal and about 100 miles west of Quebec; it’s on the north shore of Lac St-Pierre, which is an enlargement of the magnificent St-Laurent river.

The first clearings on this territory were made by the arriving of 3 brothers, the Gelineau, who after a while decided to change their names, so they can tell apart themselves and their families from one another.

So that a community, a commune , a village or a town can live, you need a certain economic activity. Yamachiche, since its beginning, hasn’t made an exception; dozens of industries and shops of all kinds were born in this village, and for all sorts of reasons, also died there.
